Brains in a Jar May Help Fight Disease [Video]

Jürgen Knoblich, director of the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, led a team that pioneered the growth of brain tissue—organoids, or mini brains—which show promise in helping to understand various brain diseases better than rodent experiments can.
